Warsaw is polish capital. Definitely it's a place worth to explore. In such a huge city it might be possible to skip some interesting places. To avoid such possiblity it's good to consider to go for organised sightseeing trip.

In the past the city went through not only glorious years, but was on the edge total destruction caused by Swedish, Russian and german people. The most touching part of the warsaw's history was the World War II. Nazist planned to ruin the Polish capital before the begining of war. The first attack took place already on 1 September 1939. Since October 1940, the Nazist had been deporting Warsaw's entire Jewish community (several hundred thousand, about 30% of the city) to the Ghetto.
